Huge thanks to everyone at the 2010 Kansas City FilmFest. I'd especially like to thank Jeph Scanlon for showing me around and introducing me to some great people. Thanks to Roberta, Jim, Melanie, Meaghan, and Alain for being radical people- it was good hanging out, drinking beers, and watching a few movies with you guys. Also want to thank my parents for their support- and to my pops for coming along.

Kansas City is the friendliest place I've ever been to- no joke.

Launched an online fundraiser today for my next narrative feature, Country Story. The film is shooting May 23-June 16 in La Grande, OR, and will feature Erik Jensen, Chris Lambert, Audrey Kovar, Austin Will, and Mandy Treanor. Money earned will go towards feeding crew, purchasing additional equipment, and covering a myriad of other costs.

Check it out by clicking here.

For anyone interested, the 2nd issue of Bad Boy Racing Club is in the works. BBRC is a self-published b/w photo zine out of Austin, TX, and represents a group of photographers and friends. My friend Jared has really been nurturing the project since its inception.

Can't say for certain when it will be available- sometime in March or early April is the gameplan. When it is available, you can pick it up here, here, or here.

Been making buttons tonight. Some new stuff for Lion Attack, incP, and Bad Boy Racing Club. Best x-mas present I've ever received... Lemme know if you'd like a button because the designs will keep coming.

Love,
Ian

My friend Eléonore acted in a film that's playing at Sundance 2010. If you're anywhere in Utah you should drive to Park City tomorrow to watch the new feature film DADDY LONGLEGS- by Josh and Benny Safdie of Red Bucket Films.

Couple screen stills from a new short film that I started shooting yesterday. Huge thanks to my friends Dusty Decker and Greg Rawlins for their involvement and willingness to hang out in the cold for a few hours. Should be pretty loose and will detail a couple cousins who haven't seen each other in awhile, one of whom has made the trip to rural Oregon from Seattle.

Heading down to SLC on Sunday to 1st AC for a month on Dustin Guy Defa's new film BAD FEVER. The film stars Kentucker Audley and Eleonore Hendricks, of Memphis and NYC. The script is fantastic- couldn't even stop to take a pee break yesterday and read it from start to finish.

Should be a good time meeting some new people and working on this project.

My friend Brett Svetlik currently has a solo exhibition at The University of Montana's University Center Gallery. He's a fantastic artist and his show is comprised of a number of b/w charcoal drawings. A week before the opening I got a phone call asking to do a collaborative piece with him which involved making a short film that loops as if someone were riding a bicycle in a desolate setting.

Brett invites viewers to participate and take turns pedaling the tandem bicycle individually in the gallery, promoting a dichotomy of cheerlessness and subtle humor.

Let me introduce you to BRETT ALLEN. Brett is a composer from Whitefish, MT who manages SNOWGHOST MUSIC. We met a year ago when he invited me to come out for a week to shoot a documentary on an artist he was recording. It was a really good time.

Recently Brett has started scoring films and my new feature Pool Room will serve as one of his first narrative projects. I look forward to seeing where he will take it. Below is a photo of Brett in an elevator during CMJ.
